Our Toddler room caters for children between the ages of 2 and 3. The room is colourful, bright and welcoming. The room leads out to our outdoor yard where we have a fort, sandpit and many other toys and activities to occupy the children and which are designed to extend development.
The beginnings of strong friendships are formed in this room. The children come in to the centre excited to see their friends and talk about them at home. As we run a government funded 3 and 4 year old kinder program and a school across the road, a lot of these children stay together right up through their primary school years.
We encourage the children to participate in lots of different arts and crafts experiences which foster development in all areas. The children are encouraged to get their hands dirty, to try new things, experience new activities and most importantly to have fun.
We also understand that this is the age where “I do it” comes into play, where the children are interested in doing a lot more for themselves. We encourage self help skills and independence in all the daily tasks. For example in the toddler room the children are encouraged to take their bowls to the trolley when they have finished, and to try and get dressed themselves in an environment where they know that help is available if they need it.
